How Better Health Insurance Ensured Low Staff Turnover

When you work for a credit union, you will often hear our industry motto, “people helping people.” As an employee, that usually brings to mind the faces and voices of our members that we assist each day, but at InFirst, it doesn’t stop there.

Approximately 18 months ago, we switched health insurance carriers, and it was a big mistake. The out-of-pocket costs rose dramatically, and coverage was terrible. Instead of ignoring employee concerns, our management team quickly stepped in and requested a new plan. The result was a mid-year roll-out of an improved plan that addressed the needs of our staff and their families. In addition to feeling heard, the quick actions boosted the morale of our team members who participate in the credit union-sponsored health insurance plan.

Working for an employer that hosts staff appreciation breakfasts, ice cream socials, and holiday celebrations makes working at the credit union fun, but working for an employer that listens to and respects its employees is something that we value even more.
